Before joining SIA, I graduated from Union College (NY) in 2018, with a dual major in Political Science and Russian-East European studies. As an undergraduate student, I studied abroad twice, and traveled to 8 different countries across Europe. In addition, I interned at the US Peacekeeping and Stability Operations Institute at the Army War College, and also, at the Institute on Aging in San Francisco, CA. The highlight of my undergraduate experience was my senior thesis research paper, where I conducted fieldwork independently in Russia during the summer of 2018. My thesis focused on the relationship of Russian political elites, illusory culture, and music.

SIA stood out to me as I looked at the different options I had upon completing my bachelor’s degree. This program sends more than half of their students abroad, has the largest alumni network in the world, and provides ample opportunities for students to engage in professional experience. Aside from the program itself, as a prospective student to becoming a current first year student, the faculty and peers have consistently been exceptionally welcoming, helpful, and admirable.
